Sep. 1--Just as most of Chatham County started gearing up for Labor Day and a three-day weekend, port truckers turned up the heat on their slow boil over conditions dockside.
Starting Thursday morning, port truckers and union members lined Dean Forest Road in front of the Georgia Ports Authority's Garden City Terminal with placards intending to drum up support during an all-weekend rally.
The truckers said they are fed up with feeling like the Savannah-area's booming economy is being motored by the big rigs delivering cargo but leaving their drivers behind.
