Heisman Trophy winner Ron Dayne isn't going to be the New York Giants' No. 1 running back. Neither is Tiki Barber.
Opting for a blend of power and speed, coach Jim Fassel on Wednesday named Dayne and Barber his co-starters heading into the season opener and said that each would touch the ball about 20 times a game.
``I'd be crazy to say I'm going to start one and the other is going to stay on the bench,'' Fassel said. ``We didn't design this whole offensive package not to utilize people.''
Fassel indicated he might even announce both players as his starters in the pregame introductions and then send one or both out for the opening play.
