LONDON, Ontario--General Motors of Canada's [GM] alliance with General Dynamics [GD] is instrumental to its chances of winning the Army's $6.9 billion Interim Armored Vehicle (IAV) program, according to a GM official.
"We thought we should partner with a U.S. company for a big U.S. program," Bill Pettipas, the vice president for General Motors of Canada and executive director for defense operations, told reporters here yesterday.
GM is teamed with GD in offering its LAV III light armored vehicle for the IAV program. The two companies announced their alliance earlier this year (Defense Daily, Feb. 14).
