Here is what Jimmy Swaggart used to prescribe for sexually wayward ministers: "If a preacher of the Gospel is caught in an immoral situation . . . this pastor or evangelist must be placed on probation for a period of a year. During this time, he cannot preach anywhere." Any other course "would be the most gross stupidity." Swaggart wrote those words two years ago in his Evangelist magazine. Last week, the nation's No. 1 television preacher altered his formula for redemption.
