Sep. 5--Henry Tosta, who milks 1,000 Holsteins at his two Tracy dairies, joined an estimated 2,400 other dairymen from around the country Monday in pouring out 2.6 million gallons of milk to protest record-low prices and lack of government relief.
Dairy farmers hope their second "White River Day" demonstration since July, when they jettisoned about one-tenth the amount dumped Monday, will bring an outcry from consumers and support for their demands.
Dairy farmers in Delaware, Florida, Maryland, Michigan, Louisiana, Wisconsin, Washington, Arizona and Utah were among the more than 2,400 participants in Monday's demonstration.
