MD A30 (Reg. no. GP-53, PI 610239) is a germplasm line of Maryland (Type 32) tobacco (Nicotiana tabacum L.) developed by the Maryland Agricultural Experiment Station and released in 1999 because of its resistance to the tobacco mosaic virus (TMV) and Race 0 black shank [caused by Phytophthora parasitica Dastur var.nicotianae (Breda de Haan) Tucker (= P. nicotianae Breda de Haan var. nicotianae G. M. Waterhouse)].
MD A30 was developed by the pedigree breeding method following the cross of two Maryland tobacco breeding lines Al6 and A25. A16 is a F4 line derived from the crosses `Catterton'/`MD 609' (6)//`MD 872' (2). A25 is a [F.SUB.6] line derived from the cross ...
