Sep. 8--ATLANTA--United Parcel Service Corp. officials said Thursday they will seek to block a proposed alliance between FedEx Corp and the U.S. Postal Service on legal and public policy grounds.
"The government can't favor one private company to the exclusion of all others," said Tad Segal, a UPS spokesman in Washington. "There's going to be a lot of pressure to analyze whether this is in the best interest of U.S. taxpayers. . .and whether it's fair to government workers. It's far from certain that the Postal Service is going to be able to pull this off."
