A group of Cheshire farmers is attempting to play the welfare card to boost interest in rose veal in Britain with the lad of a 150,000 [pounds sterling] grant from the Ministry of Agriculture under the second round of the Agriculture Development Scheme.
Rose veal is seen as offering a potential lifeline to dairy farmers whose bobby calves have little financial value by offering a system of veal production more welfare friendly than the intensive systems used on the continent to produce white veal.
