When Bell Hooks Published her first book of social critique, Ain't I a Woman, in her early twenties, she became known as a provocative young voice for social change. Today, almost two decades later, she's written more than twenty books, from children's literature to cutting-edge essays on contemporary culture, class, feminist theory, racism, and domination. In addition to her public life as a writer and a speaker, she has taught at Yale and Oberlin and currently is at the City University of New York.
