Who says tennis isn't a team sport? The year 2000 could easily go down as the year of team tennis. At all levels, tennis teams are gaining more exposure and finding more competitive opportunities.
"About the last two or three years, the USTA [United States Tennis Association] has really made an emphasis on a sense of team, whether it be Fed Cup, Davis Cup, or the Olympics," said Billie Jean King, tennis star, U.S. Fed Cup coach, and women's Olympic tennis team coach.
At the grassroots level, there is also USA Team Tennis. Anyone who runs a tennis program is encouraged to offer USA Team Tennis and receives an incentive of $25 per team enrolled. The growth ...
