A local restaurant owner is trading in pizza pies for chips -- computer chips, that is.
Michael Friedman, founder of Captain Tony's Pizza Inc., said he has sold his majority interest in four local pizza shops for an undisclosed amount. He said Captain Tony's employs 60 and had sales of $2.1 million last year.
Two of the restaurants -- Captain Tony's Pizza in South Euclid and Captain Tony's Pizza and Pasta Emporium on Shaker Square in Cleveland -- were sold to company managers. Shops in downtown Cleveland and in Cleveland Heights were bought by Cleveland businessman William Moore.
