Environmental assessment.The proposal for a Directive covered by the Recommendation presented on behalf of Parliament's Environment Committee by Inger Schorling (Greens/EFA, Sweden) and adopted by the plenary session in second reading (co-decision procedure), aims to introduce a high level of environmental protection by ensuring that projects likely to have a major impact on the environment are covered by an environmental impact assessment prior to consent being given.Parliament adopted 29 amendments in the course of its first reading.
