Caustic soda production processes include the causticization process, the diaphragm electrolysis process, the mercury electrolysis process and the ionic exchange membrane process. China has around 240 caustic soda producers distributed in almost all provinces and autonomous regions. The total production capacity is around 7.00 million t/a. The capacity of caustic soda produced by the diaphragm electrolysis process and the ionic exchange membrane process accounts for around 95% of the total. There are nearly 10 producers with a capacity of over 100 000 t/a, 15 producers with a capacity of over 50 000 t/a and more than 40 producers with a capacity of 20 000 - 50 000 t/a. The ...
