The early vote for shirt-jackets is in and it's specialty stores by a wide margin over department stores, which are either testing them or undecided. But this hasn't dimmed the widespread enthusiasm in the tailored clothing market where retailers and manufacturers agree they finally can cash in on the business-casual boom with a coat that dresses up or down with ease. And everybody calls shirt-jackets not only the bridge into sportswear but also one way of regaining lost suit dollars.

And as expected, shirt-jackets became one of the hit classifications last week at MAGIC where specialty stores snapped them up as part of their growing sportswear buy.
