Sep. 13--Owensboro lost "a bit of a bragging point" on Tuesday.

The Owensboro-based Disc Jockey Music Stores -- the nation's fifth-largest record chain -- is being sold to Trans World Entertainment, the country's largest music retailer.

Disc Jockey is one of a handful of national companies headquartered in Owensboro.

"When I travel around the country, I ask people if they have a Disc Jockey store," Fred Reeves, vice president of the Owensboro-Daviess County Chamber of Commerce, said Tuesday. "If they do, I say, 'Did you know their headquarters are in Owensboro?' We've lost a bit of bragging point."
