TRIPOLI, Libya, Sept. 15 (UPI)
Libyan leader Col. Moammar Gadhafi blamed "brokers and middlemen" Friday for the spiraling oil prices, saying that they are acting without control. In a letter addressed to world leaders Thursday night, Gadhafi said the "taxes imposed by the consuming countries on oil affected their economies and caused panic."
"If we want to make it easy on each other and spare us the resulting damage, we should discuss and reach an understanding so that we agree on joint cooperation in the interest of all," he said.
He accused industrialist states of "raising the prices of goods and services on
oil consumers ... and ...
