A Cincinnati manufacturing business will close for half the day today in homage to one of its oldest and best-loved employees, Leroy Hubbard.
The 62-year-old Independence, Ky. man died Wednesday after 43 years of service at Gold Medal Products in Evendale, a company he literally grew up with, according to Mr. Hubbard's wife, Pearl.
''They make popcorn and ice cream machines that make all that goody stuff at the fairs,'' said Mrs. Hubbard. ''He started down on Third Street with them when it first started out and they were very small. Today ... they have over 300 employees. He couldn't wait to go back to Gold Medal.
