RIYADH, Saudi Arabia, Sept. 17 (UPI)
Official Saudi Arabian newspapers on Sunday warned Iraq against carrying out a military attack against Kuwait.
The Saudi papers joined their Kuwaiti counterparts, saying Iraq would "pay a heavy price" should its forces attempt to launch attacks against Kuwait after Baghdad accused the emirate of stealing its oil.
The kingdom's warnings came as U.S. Secretary of Defense William Cohen said that American and British forces based in the Gulf were ready to respond to any Iraqi attack against Kuwait.
