The Rev. Jesse Jackson delivered electrifying sermons all over the capital Sunday morning: In the packed Kennedy High School auditorium, where St. Paul's Church meets. At Trinity Baptist Church, where the gospel choir flat-out rocks.
And at Virginia Union University, where football players, cheerleaders, sorority members and at least one student who aspires to be president came together for a rally.
But when the renowned civil rights leader passed the proverbial plate at each stop, he wasn't just looking for greenbacks for his Rainbow/PUSH Coalition. He was looking for big, white voter registration forms.
And he got them.
