Neil Smith's sudden sacking, in favour of Michael Powell, followed input by coach Bob Woolmer who leaves for southern Africa this week

Warwickshire sacked Neil Smith as captain last night, and sensationally replaced him with 25-year-old Michael Powell. They also did not offer Ed Giddins a new contract following his decision to move back south, and Anurag Singh has been given until November 1 to accept a contract.
