NEW YORK -- Sunglasses and reading glasses represent profit centers for retailers willing to offer the categories the space they deserve.
The potential appeal of the eyewear categories to mass retailers is clear: the products generally feature margins of between 50% and 60%, and the products are effective generators of impulse sales.
In addition, in both sunglasses and reading glasses mass retailers can offer consumers real value in comparison with the prices they would have to pay for similar products carried by other outlets.
