American Airlines pilots have rejected the proposed one-year extension of their contract.
The Allied Pilots Association (APA), representing about 11,000 American Airlines pilots, said that 5,407 of the 8,202 pilots who cast a ballot voted against the contract extension and only 2,795 supported it. Support for the extension fell after pilots at United Airlines won a new contract that set new standards for pay and benefits in the industry according to Reuters.
