A MILESTONE COLLECTION FROM SAINT LAURENT
PARIS--There is only one Yves Saint Laurent and there will never be another. The couture collection he showed in Paris Wednesday--his 53rd--was the greatest he has ever done. Even the designer himself recognized it as a milestone. "I don't know if I can ever do another one like this," he said.
The fall collection combined fantasy with refinement, elegance with daring, and fun with simplicity. There were virtually no wrong moves in all its 134 pieces, and everything else in Paris pales by comparison.
