Nicole Reinhart was one of the top sprint cyclists in the country. She had been disappointed in failing to make the U.S. Olympic team.
Absent the trip to Sydney, Reinhart was racing Sunday outside of Boston. It was an event on the Saturn Professional Tour, a series Reinhart had been dominating.
The cyclists were on the final lap of the street race. Reinhart was squeezed on a turn, her bike careened off the road and crashed into a tree. The two-time national champion from Metztown, Pa., died from the injuries she suffered.
