Sep. 22--Now, any thought about nonstop service from Memphis to London really is just speculation with the end of merger talks between British Airways PLC and KLM Royal Dutch Airlines.
Memphis-Shelby County Airport Authority officials were excited and optimistic about the chances for additional trans-Atlantic service if the long-planned merger had come together.
After all, any BA-KLM deal would likely have to involve KLM's alliance partner, Northwest Airlines Corp., which operates a hub at Memphis International Airport.
