The next statewide campaign over transportation got under way in earnest yesterday as opponents of a road-building initiative blasted the proposal and promised a $1 million campaign to stop it.
A coalition of public-interest groups, unions and transit advocates joined the Greater Seattle Chamber of Commerce in condemning Initiative 745, which would require spending 90 percent of the state's transportation dollars on roads.
They said it would reduce money for transit, hurting commuters while clogging roads with more cars even as more roads are built.
