ORLANDO, Fla., Sept. 25 /PRNewswire/ --
School bells started ringing in August -- signaling a 6 percent boost in home sales over last year, according to the Florida Association of Realtors. A total of 13,950 single-family existing homes were sold during August compared to 13,126 during the same month a year ago. Also, the median sales price of homes sold increased to $117,100, which is 4 percent more than the median sales price in August last year.
Interest rates for August rose above the 8 percent mark by averaging 8.03 percent for a 30-year fixed-rate mortgage. That rate is up from the 7.94 percent rate in August 1999. FAR's sales figures reflect ...
