SYDNEY, Australia _ Michael Johnson carried an American flag around the Olympic Stadium track, just like in `96.
He wore gold shoes, just like in `96.
He won a gold medal in the 400 meters, just like in `96.
The comparisons end there.
Johnson dominated his race, as usual, but he didn't dominate the Olympic track meet. He didn't even dominate Monday night. That honor belonged to Australian hero Cathy Freeman, who won a more celebrated 400 meters gold medal. And Johnson had no trouble yielding the spotlight.
