Jeans-loving tourists to Germany might want to take a detour to Buttenheim in Bavaria where the Levi Strauss Museum is slated to open Saturday.
The museum's and Buttenheim's claim to fame is that the inventor of that quintessential American garment, blue jeans, was born in this German town in 1829. Moreover, he was born in the very house that will now serve to exhibit a variety of original and replica items revolving around the life of Levi Strauss, the Levi Strauss company and the clothing icon they created.
