BLACKTOWN, Australia _ Moments after the American women's softball team clinched a second straight Olympic gold medal with a 2-1 victory over Japan, the Australian heavens opened up and turned the field and grounds around the stands into a sea of mud.
Slogging through it all, to the edge of the right field seats,U.S. left fielder Christie Ambrosi blew her mother, Mimi, a kiss and screamedinto the night "I love you!"
