The recent attention being given to high prices for home heating oil overlooks the fact that natural gas is the principal fuel used to heat homes in the United States. Today, more than 60 million U.S. homes heat with natural gas-more than six times the number that use heating oil. In the past year, natural gas prices doubled to record levels.
