In December 1998, when the Korean film industry was under increasing pressure from abroad to abolish its screen quarter system, hundreds in the film industry took to the streets in protest. Among the demonstrators were top screen actresses like Shim Eun-ha, Kang Su-yon, and Kim Hye-su.
