Publishing science fiction is difficult enough: It's a popular genre, to be sure, but its niche these days is narrower than that of mystery or romance.
Being an independent sci-fi publisher is even tougher. Golden Gryphon Press is thriving in that role, though, despite the shadow of a recent tragedy.
Golden Gryphon was founded in 1997 by Jim Turner, a St. Louis area native who had been the legendary editor of Arkham House.
