THE Cunningham brothers, Jan and Bryn, were the big losers yesterday when Ulster's 30-man European Cup squad was officially announced.

Ireland A utility back Jan has had to pay a heavy price for breaking his finger in training last week for, although he should be fit again by early November, the injury has effectively cost him an entire Euro campaign.

Unless Ulster reach the knockout stages, in which case he would almost certainly be one of the two additional players who can be registered, he will not be able to take part in this season's tournament.
