Richard A. Murphy recently was appointed the new president and CEO of the Salk Institute.
Murphy comes from the Montreal Neurological Institute, part of McGill University in Montreal, where he worked for the past eight years.
Before that, Murphy worked at the University of Alberta in Edmonton from 1986 to 1992.
At Salk, Murphy's primary challenge will be to raise funds to increase the institute's endowment.
