Article: Leukemia Patient Gets Bone Marrow From Japanese Donor.

A Korean leukemia patient yesterday received bone marrow from a Japanese donor under a transplant surgery.

The donation was arranged by the Korean Marrow Donor Program (KMDP) and the Japanese Marrow Donor Program (JMDP).

The bone marrow transplant was the first of its kind sine the two non-profit organizations signed a cooperation agreement on the donation program on March 15.

``We came to bear fruits for the first time in bone marrow donation program between Japan and Korea,'' said Chon Yong-shik, chief executive office of the KMDP.
