Article: Korea, Taiwan Seeking to Resume Direct Flights.

Korea and Taiwan are moving to discuss ways of resuming direct flights by national carriers between Seoul and Taipei, as part of their efforts to promote tourism between the two economies.

Taiwan severed diplomatic ties with Korea in 1992 when Seoul normalized relations with Taipei's rival, Beijing. Since then direct flights between the two capitals have been suspended.

The Korea National Tourism Organization (KNTO) said yesterday that private-level talks will be held to discuss ways of resuming the direct flights between Korea and Taiwan at a bilateral meeting of the two nations' tourism associations in Seoul on June 16.
