Public distrust and hatred of the state prosecution has never been as strong as it is now. In a period of less than six months, the prosecution has been battered with scandal after scandal.
Naming only a few of the scandals, they include the first-ever mutiny of junior prosecutors against their seniors and the controversial probes into a theft case involving Cholla-pukto Governor You Jong-keun, a close confidant of President Kim Dae-jung, and the dress scandal in which the wife of the recently sacked justice minister Kim Tae-joung figured highly.
