Rep. Kim Yong-hwan, former vice president of the United Liberal Democrats (ULD), is seeking to create a new party consisting of figures mostly from the central Chungchong and north Kyongsang provinces.
To that end, Kim is exploring chances to set up cooperative ties with the politicians who served under the administration of former president Chun Doo-hwan, mostly based in the Taegu-Kyongsang-pukto (TK) area.
Kim earlier severed ties with his long-time mentor and ULD founder Prime Minister Kim Jong-pil, in defiance of the latter's reneging of the pledge to revise the Constitution to introduce the parliamentary cabinet system within this year.
