Tina Frailey has never met a tuba player she didn't like. In fact, Frailey --the publicist for the Madison Civic Center -- has been playing the large brass instrument herself for 15 years.
``I didn't decide to play the tuba in fifth-grade band class because it was different or because it was considered to be a `boy instrument,' '' Frailey says.
``I just love the sound. It's a legitimate instrument that doesn't just `oompah' and do polkas. Tubas have a growing repertoire nowadays.''
Besides that, ``tubas aren't as heavy as they look,'' she quips.
