TEACHERS OF UNDERGRADUATE and graduate courses in business communication and trainers who are involved in trying to explain the impact of culture on business interactions keep looking for a better way. Hofstede's colossal study (1981) of IBM employees in 53 countries yielded four dimensions of culture: individualism-collectivism, power distance, uncertainty tolerance-avoidance, and masculinity-femininity.
