This book is a high-quality, concise reference for the diseases of the spleen. Excluding postmortem spleens and those removed following traumatic incidents, which are usually healthy or show generalized congestion, most surgical pathologists and hematopathologists are not regularly exposed to specimens with significant pathologic changes. The authors truthfully state in the "Preface," "... the organ retains a degree of mystery for most physicians."
