DALLAS -- Wal-Mart Stores Inc. brought its neighborhood market concept to Texas last month, opening three units in the Dallas/Fort Worth area.
Three additional Neighborhood Market stores are due to open shortly in the nearby towns of Mesquite, Mansfield and Garland. All are being built in areas that already have a Wal-Mart discount store or Supercenter.
"The Neighborhood Markets are being positioned to complement areas where we already have stores and a lot of customer support," a Wal-Mart spokesman says. "They are smaller and more convenience-focused, meant for trips to the store in between visits to one of our Supercenters."
