Strawberry vinegar in cole slaw, or a dash of pecan vinegar in pastry dough: Almost any dish can be jazzed up a bit with a flavored vinegar.
So says KT Hawk, an instructor with Orange Tree Imports Cooking School, 1721 Monroe St.
``You can be far more adventurous in cooking if you look beyond plain apple cider vinegar,'' Hawk says.
And lots of new varieties of flavored vinegars have emerged.
In addition to raspberry and tarragon vinegars, there are cinnamon apple, dill and peppercorn, cranberry, fig, garlic and basil, hot pepper, lemon and cilantro, chive and orange chili, to name a few.
