OAKLAND _ Larry Hughes and Antawn Jamison can work together like Curly Neal and Meadowlark Lemon.
Danny Fortson can prove he's a first-rate power forward capable of holding his own against the Karl Malones, Chris Webbers and Rasheed Wallaces of the Western Conference. And Mookie Blaylock, Chris Mullin and Chris Mills can hold the locker room together like glue.
But none of that is going to mean much if center Erick Dampier doesn't come to play this season.
