Production problems that could cause a shortage of influenza vaccine may threaten popular flu shot benefits offered by many of the nation's largest employers.
This summer, officials with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in Atlanta asked health care providers to delay annual influenza vaccinations from their traditional start in mid-September until November and to take additional steps to minimize wastage of vaccine doses.
The CDC is recommending that high-risk individuals, including young children, the elderly, patients with suppressed immune systems and health care workers, be given first priority for flu vaccinations. These ...
