Arlington Heights' ponies found their way into many a heart this summer, and now they're making a path to academia.
The village's "Ponies on Parade" ended in August with an auction that brought in $69,000 for local charities - organizers expected only $25,000 - and now a Northwestern University professor wants to know why.
Keith Murnighan, a professor of risk management who also studies group and individual decision-making at the Kellogg Graduate School of Management, said he hopes the ponies, along with Chicago's cows, will help him understand "auction fever."
