Dr Bernd Malmstrom took over as chairman of DB Cargo on July l. He has a clear set of objectives for improving the performance of DB Cargo and developing railfreight not only in Germany but also in the rest of Europe. He set out his radical plans in an exclusive interview with IRJ, his first such interview since taking office.
MALMSTROM joined the board of DB Cargo on May 1, and spent his first two months with DB Cargo visiting other European railways to see how to build up the European railfreight network.
