The last few years have seen our warm, sunny autumn days stretch right up until Thanksgiving. That means we can be enjoying the bounty and the beauty of our gardens for a lot longer than many of us planned for when we were designing them.
But these pictures -- taken at the VanDusen Botanical Garden in Vancouver, British Columbia -- show what your landscape could look like in the third week of September. While it's true that much of the Pacific Northwest is Zone 7 (or even 8!) and is considered a temperate rain forest, the plants pictured will all grow happily in our zone 4 gardens.
