EPA PROPOSES APPROVAL OF PIMA COUNTY, ARIZ., CARBON MONOXIDE PLAN

SAN FRANCISCO, April 22 /PRNewswire/ -- U.S. Environmental Protection Agency proposed today to approve Arizona's state implementation plan (SIP) for control of carbon monoxide pollution in Pima County.

The submittal of the approvable state plan means that EPA does not need to develop a federal implementation plan in its place. EPA was ordered, as part of a 1985 law suit brought by the Arizona Center for Law in the Public Interest (ACLPI), to develop a federal plan if the state plan did not meet the national health-based air-quality standard for carbon monoxide.
